Our Church Leaders
Timothy Gough
Say Hi to Tim one of our church leaders and one of our worship leaders too! Here's more about Tim.
'Hey, I'm Tim and I'm 40 something years old...Stopped counting!! Married to the beautiful Michelle with three fabulous children - feel free to ask about the miracle with them!
I am one of the church leaders and often lead the worship at PCC. I have a real passion for seeing Christ impact our local community. I was born into a Christian family and thank God for the grounding in faith I had as a child. My parents and two brothers died in a car accident when I was 11 in which I was a part of...but survived. This saw my faith in God disappear. Thankfully my Aunty and Uncle were looking after me and God had His hand on my life and I found my way back to faith in God at 16...and have never looked back! Since then, I studied at Cliff College and went on to do youth and schools ministry in the Manchester area for a year before marrying Michelle and settling in Pilsley.
I started preaching when I was 17 and been in Church leadership since i was 21. It is a privilege to be part of the leadership at PCC and to see what God is doing with us. The best thing is, it's only just started and I believe God has great things planned.'
Michelle Gough
Say Hi to Michelle! Alongside Tim, Michelle is our other Church Leader. She is also part of our amazing band too! Here's a bit more about Michelle.
'Hi there, I'm Michelle. I've been married to Tim now for 21 years, 5 months, 1 week, 2 days, 21 hours and 57 minutes!!! Not that I'm counting!!! We have 3 beautiful children that I class as miracles after a long, drawn out battle with IVF!! But God promised......and He never fails! And for that, I will always be grateful! I have worked for DWP since 1999- part-time in recent years. I play table tennis, playing in the Chesterfield league and playing county level as a young teenager right through to the women'mbs. I'm a keen football fan, supporting The Mighty Spireites each week - hoping to win the league this season!!!!! Eeeeeek!!!! I like running.....hhhhmmm yeah right!!! Well, I like the fact if I run...I can eat more pizza.....which I think I may love a little too much.....that and coffee!!!! No wonder I spend my who life on a diet!! Church wise, I am a Church Leader and play in the worship group which I have done since about 16yrs old. Most of all though, I love the Lord. I love worshipping Him and gathering with like-minded people to explore His Word! I'm thankful for everything God has given me!'
Colin Wright
Say Hi to Colin! Colin is another one of our Church Leaders! Here's more about him.
'My Name is Colin and I am the old man of Pilsley Community Church, also they tell me I am a leader. I am married to Christine and we are still together after 57 years, one of us has a lot of patience, I'll leave you to guess!
I have worked in my life as an apprentice electrician, served my time in the armed forces, ran a wholesale business for 24 years, after which I worked for Chesterfield Town Hall and later for Dales Housing as a Housing and Homeless officer, also contract officer retiring at 70 years.
I am a football supporter (Chesterfield FC) and have played league table tennis for years, I was converted to Jesus when I was 18 years old, after making a decision at 15 years old never to go to another church. God had other ideas (thank goodness). It happened on a sandy beach in Great Yarmouth listening to Evangelist - Herbert Silverwood.
My favourite subject in the scripture is the 2nd coming of Jesus, I have been studying this for 40 years and know just a little bit. I still travel regularly over 40 miles for lessons on the subject.
My ambition is to join the church music group (mouth organ) or sing solo. Chris and I have been Baptised, full immersion 2 years ago and I am pleased with the new church move. I am sure that we are witnessing a move of the Holy Spirit (exciting) may we be seeing many more souls saved in these difficult days. Jesus is coming soon.'
Janet Churm
Say Hi to Jan! Jan is a church leader alongside being one of the singers in the band. Here's more about her.
'Hi I'm Janet, I have been married to Gary for over 42 years and have one beautiful daughter Rachel who is part of the worship group and I also have two gorgeous granddaughters Elyssa and Miya who keep me busy when I'm not at work, but I love it.
I have worked since leaving school at the same firm of accountants for over 45 years but I am due to retire this November which will be a huge change.
I have been a church leader for longer than I care to remember and been part of a church since I was young even though I wasn't brought up in a Christian home. I first committed my life to Christ at the age of 12 but firmly believe that He is and always will be working to make me more like Him on a daily basis.
I have recently taken up my role in the worship group again after taking a back seat during covid due to all the restrictions imposed on us and feel blessed to be helping to lead our church in worship again.
I look forward each week to sharing in worship and fellowship with all of you at church'
Gary Churm
Say Hi to Gaz! Gaz is a massive part of our church, if you need it fixing Gaz'll fix it! Here's more about Gary!
'Hi I'm Gary. As a child I was sent to Sunday School with the rest of my brothers and sisters just to just to give our dad a bit of peace and quiet for an hour or two twice on a Sunday. We always messed about at Sunday School the teachers must have dreaded me and my twin brother turning up every week. But praise God for their perseverance.
It was our first Sunday evening service me and my brother attended (invited 27/10/1975) at the age of 15 that the penny dropped, the preacher spoke on John 3:16 and we both made the decision to follow Jesus. We then started learning to play the guitar and singing Christian songs in the assemblies at school (very nerve-racking). Me and my brother were the first to play our guitars in our church (Bridge Street) the looks we got and discouragement from the old people that the guitar was not for church, but we persevered. Sorry to say that my twin hasn't attended church for many years but I keep praying he will return. We started then after a couple of years and encouragement from some of the youth leaders to start a worship band at Bridge Street and I have been doing that ever since and still love it.
I have been married to Janet over 42 years and have one daughter, Rachel. We have 2 granddaughters which I love spending time with (to be honest spoiling them to bits). I am the one at church if anything is broken and needs repairing or something wants making, Gaz is the man! My main calling is worship and to hopefully have our church and any other places we are invited to, have a new experience of worship every time we meet. I am a very quiet and fairly shy person so if you think I don't come and talk to you, that's the reason. I love our new church and am happy to be part of the leadership team and I pray that God will continue to bless us all.'
Say Hi to Derek who as well as being a leader is also lead guitarist and also preaches for us as well.
Hi I'm Derek and am married to Denise, we have 3 children and 4 grandchildren. I knew from the moment we first set foot in PCC that this is where God wanted us. I'm passionate about worship and play guitar in the band and also do occasional bit of preaching. I came to know Christ as saviour in 1976 and through all the years I'm now at my most content because of PCC's bible based preaching and teaching with Jesus at the forefront.
